So, I leave for Berlin with Allison in one week. It's hard to imagine that I'll be in another country so soon. I haven't been outside of the U.S. in a few years and I haven't been outside of the U.S. for more than a month since I left Russia over 10 years ago. It's unreal, really. This whole experience is going to be something that I'll treasure for the rest of my life - the only problem is that I am completely unprepared at the moment.
I have everything that I need except for transformers for my outlets. I need to get those. I also need to deposit some money into my bank account. But other than that I have everything -- I just need to pack it all and decide what doesn't go with me. I can buy a lot of stuff there (toothpaste, toothbrush, hair stuff) and such when I get there. But what do I take? Everyone that's gone before says to only take clothes and the necessities. But this is me -- I travel with two suitcases for a week long trip. I NEED EVERYTHING. Nothing is optional. Especially when I am going for 5 months. Well, 4 months in Germany and then a month in Israel with my family.
I need to pack and some how prepare myself. But I don't think I'll be mentally ready to be there -- until I'm there. Hopefully, within the next few days I'll be able to get things started.
Next time I update, it'll be the night before I leave!
